Choir CUM excursion

       Choir CUM excursion to Singapore Discovery Centre            

Today we went to the Singapore Discovery centre for our choir learning journey. It was AWSOME MAN!!!!!!! We played many games and got to know Singapore better! We started out by playing "happy religions" . It is like happy family but you must get a full set of The Logo or Symbol of the religion, The Place of Worship of the religion, The founder or God of the religion, and lastly the Sacred Scripts of the religion. It was very difficult as we did not know any of the religions like Zoroastrianism, Jainism and Bahal'i Faith (Which is pronounced as Ba-Hal-li- Faith). We then had to do a little Worksheet on the religions and we just copied the answers down from the cards.

Next, we went to the Singaporean walk or exhibition. There were all sorts of exhibits like Singlish exhibits, National Day exhibits, Olden day cartoons and TV programmes. One of the GEP choir boys actually wore a Chua Khu Cang wig and I caught that on tape.

After that, we were supposed to make a Lotus. The facillitator told us that a Lotus was a sacred plant. It represents enlightenment.

                              We learnt a lot from this "tour" like respecting other                                                                                         races and religions. My favourite hobby (The basics of fishkeeping)

                                My favourite hobby

My favourite hobby is fishkeeping. You might ask what is "Fishkeeping" is. Fishkeeping is basically keeping fish in the tank or aquarium. Fishkeeping doesn't mean only keeping one fish in a tank. You can actually keep a whole diverse of freshwater fish or marine life fish. To start, I will put things simple. Fish do poo, right. The poo gives out a chemical called ammonia or known as NH3, NH4. A specific type of bacteria commonly called the "ammonia bug" breaks down the ammonia into nitrite known as NO2. Take note that all these chemicals I have listed are harmful. Try to get a reading of 0ppm (0 parts per million) if you want a healthy tank. Next comes the least harmful one, nitrate NO3, which is really harmless but a plant fertiliser and too much of it is not too good either. Again, a bacteria called the "nitrite bug" breaks down the nitrite into nitrate. Try to aim for 40ppm nitrate. The fish consume the plants and the whole cycle starts again......... This is called the Nitrogen Cycle.

This is only part 1 out of don't know how many.

Next, the plants. This is the most fun part of the aquarium. The plants. You can buy them from any pet shop but look out for ones with bright, green leaves and short and healthy roots. They should last you about a year or so.

Finally the fish. This is the most thrilling part for some of you but it is the most stressful for your fishies. Transport them in a dark coloured paper bag to minimize stress. When you reach home, first float the bag in your aquarium then after 15 min, let the fish go into your aquarium.

Hi everyone! Welcome once again to my blog. Today is school holidays! Yeepee! I would like to share my WP4 darft 3 that I was supposed to send to Mrs Liu for editing. I will show you the non-editted one first and then show you the editted on when Mrs Liu gives it out to all of us.
Here it goes.......

 A Day I Was Most Angry

   Whenever I look at the empty stand in the living room, I would always recall that incident that changed my life…….

   Back then, I was a very dishonest and playful boy. Whenever there was a prank played in class, I was always the first suspect. One hot and humid night, my brother and I were playing with Lego. Since my parents had gone out for a wedding dinner, they had instructed us to do our homework quietly and said they would be back by ten o’clock and they expected us to be in bed by nine. Being playful, I had ignored their instructions and played Lego with my brother.

As we were playing, my brother accidentally pushed a Lego brick under the wooden stand which displayed our mother’s treasured vase. My mother said it was from the 90s and was passed down from her grandmother. My brother insisted on crawling under the wooden stand to get the brick. I tried to advise him not to do so as it was dangerous but my words fell on deaf ears. I checked my watch. It was already 9:58. My parents would be home any minute now! I scrambled to my bedroom forgetting about my brother and the stand. When I was preparing the bed, I heard a loud crash. I immediately rushed out of my room.

 What I saw made me jump. The stand had toppled over and my mother’s treasured vase lay smashed into smithereens. Fortunately, my brother was safe. He immediately scooted away leaving me to clean up the terrible mess. I grabbed a broom and was going to sweep up the broken pieces of the vase when I heard the sound of jingling keys. That was when it hit me. My parents were back! I quickened my movements but ended up making the floor even messier. The door swung open and my parents stepped in. My mother gasped in shock after seeing me next to the broken vase. She immediately flew into a rage.

She pointed her index finger at me and shouted, “How dare you!” “But I didn’t do it!” I protested. “Who do you think would believe you!” my mother growled. At that moment, my blood began to boil. My mind was filled with hatred and angry thoughts. “It was Jozef!” I pointed at my brother who was hiding in the corner with that innocent look on his face. It was like my brother was “framing” me. I was so angry that I couldn’t control myself and pounced on my brother like a lion ambushing its prey. “Whack” my mother slapped my face and I fell to the ground, groaning in pain. And with that, she stormed out of the living room and into the master bedroom. I was so upset that night that I tossed and turned in my sleep, unable to fall asleep. I finally managed to fall asleep but in my dreams I imagined strangling my brother. But it was only a dream.

From that day on, I decided to turn a new leaf and try to be more honest and less playful. For my mother, she now keeps all her precious stuff in this glass display cabinet locked up high up in the study room and never lets anyone go in there. As for my brother, although he wasn’t caught, that incident shook him so hard that I think he has also turned a new leaf to be more honest too.

How does an iron work?

                             How does an iron work?

Today, I had an urge to do a bit of investigating and guess what I found......

How it works?

Most irons use the same principal of passing electricity through a wire. The wire heats up and gives out heat radiation. The heat radiation then heats up the metal plate (What we see as the "Bottom" of the iron) and you can begin ironing your clothes.

How does an iron remove wrinkles?

Since the iron is heavy, when the metal plate presses against the fabric, the bonds in the fabric become weak when heated and the wrinkles are flattened by the weight of the iron. When the fabric cools down, the bonds bond again in the new flat position and the clothing is now wrinkle-free.

How does the iron themostat work?

The thermostat is made out of two pieces of metal which expands and contracts at a different rate. When the temperature reaches a certain degree, the materials expands or contracts and touches another piece of metal and the circuit is closed or openned and the heating system is switched on or off.
